A cap goes with a DynaVap tip, and it clicks to tell you about the temperature. The Armored Cap is the heavy one, a stainless steel replacement cap that holds heat longer than a standard cap.

How it heats

A Captive Cap sits inside a heavier stainless steel shell, so this cap takes longer to heat than a standard one and stays hot longer. With a torch (a small flame), heat slowly at the heating reference logo. It does not usually need spinning. The cap clicks when it reaches temperature. Wait for the cool-down click before you heat again.

Fits

  • Standard DynaVap tips, including the M7, M Plus, Helix and Halo tips
  • Torch heating
  • Some induction heaters, which warm the metal with a magnetic field instead of a flame. The 12 mm size may need more power or more heat cycles, and the YLLVAPE IH 3.0 is the better match

It does not fit the DynaVap Hyper Tip or HyperDyn-style large-format tips.

Care

The cap stays hot longer, so take care taking it off. A Decapper, magnet or DynaStash is recommended for handling it hot. The tight fit can mark titanium or coated tips, so take extra care with PVD-coated or coloured ones (PVD is a thin hard coating). Normal scratches do not usually affect how it works.

If you only want a standard cap, this is not it. It is the slower, heavier one.
